Car of the Month June 2023

To get started, my first car was a 1965 Fastback 2+2. It had V8 2 barrel with factory air. Was great for a 16-year-old. Drove it for 7 years. I decided maybe 10 years ago I wanted another mustang, years 2006 to 2009. I test drove a few, but most were just not in good enough shape for me to purchase one. My daughter reached driving age and we had a car for her, but my thought was I would go spend say $4,000 or so, for something she could learn in and if she had an accident, etc. she would have a car sitting at home. While looking for something for her, I had to raise the amount to spend to find something worth buying.

Sound familiar.

As I raised the amount, mustangs started showing up in my search. I decided that I would get a mustang and it had to be a GT Premium with a stick. Again, had a hard time finding anything. After returning from a vacation, I decided to check craigslist. And there it was a 2006 GT Premium, Vista Blue, Tan interior, with over 30 pictures.

I connected with the seller. He was the original owner. He bought the car at Maxwell in south Austin. They had to find the car that he wanted which they did in Dallas. So, I bought it! I know all the history, very well-kept vehicle. Here’s the punch line. Since I was having a hard time finding what I wanted I decided to get a Marty report. I was thinking that this option combination might have limited production but didn’t expect it to be only 11. So, this car is 1 of 11 out of 167,000 mustangs produced in 2006.

Oh, and I wrecked it. Fortunately, I was able to keep the car.

That’s my story.
